The 9th Algarve Museum Network Conference
Espaço Guadiana
“Archaeology for All: Mediation and Communication of Heritage” is the central theme of the 9th Algarve Museum Network (RMA) Conference, which will take place this year in Alcoutim, at Espaço Guadiana, on November 20th, organized by the RMA and the Municipality of Alcoutim.
One of the essential objectives of Archaeology is to produce knowledge about human occupation in any territory over time.
But how is scientific data transformed into understandable messages that spark interest and promote a genuine connection with Archaeological Heritage?
What tools, languages, and narratives allow us to translate this science for the general public?
How can we design museum spaces, visitable archaeological sites, and communication strategies in an accessible, inclusive, and rigorous way?
These are some of the questions that professionals and museums grapple with in the communication of archaeological heritage.
At the heart of this reflection are mediation strategies that make Archaeological Heritage more accessible, fostering dialogue with communities in a close relationship with their historical evolution, between past and present, promoting a sense of belonging and identity and valuing their collective heritage.
The 9th RMA CONFERENCE will thus be an open space for everyone to explore, debate, reflect on, and share experiences around the challenges, methodologies, and best practices of communication in archaeology, bringing together a group of specialists and technicians from various institutions.
Registration for attendance at the Conference is open until November 13th (subject to availability). Participation is free and subject to completion of a registration form, available HERE.
