The inaugural series, “Alcoutim Lembra Abril”, from the radio program “Memórias de Alcoutim”, began on January 27, with fortnightly episodes on Saturdays at 10 am, in addition to repeats every Wednesday at 10 am. This special series highlights the memories and stories related to April 25, 1974, the Carnation Revolution, from several alcoutenejos.
From April 22nd to April 28th, RCA – Rádio Clube de Alcoutim will repeat the episodes, released from January 27th to April 20th, at 5 pm, on 94.4 FM:
April 22nd, 5 pm – “From Palmeira to military life”
José Cavaco Madeira, born in Monte da Palmeira, who joined the Portuguese Navy at 17 years of age.
April 23rd, 5 pm – “Teaching before and after April 74”
Susete Romba Guerreiro, retired teacher, who lived her childhood in the village of Pereiro where she currently resides.
April 24th, 5 pm – “Memories of an Alcoutenejo student, who remembers April in the academic world”
José Dias Rodrigues, professor, who lived on April 25th as a university student.
April 25th, 5 pm – “Memories of an Alcouteneja, born, raised and resident in the village of Martim Longo”
Mrs. Maria do Nascimento Candeias Lopes Evangelista, seamstress, who learned the trade at home with her mother.
April 26th, 5 pm – Mr. Leopoldino António de Campos, retired army captain, who will share some of his memories, born and raised in Preguiças, parish of Vaqueiros, a nonagenarian who had a career in the Army, and participated in the colonial war.
April 27th, 5 pm – Odília Paulino, was born into a family of traders in the village of Giões, in the 1940s
April 28th, 5 pm – Carlos Brito, prominent opponent of the Estado Novo, a freedom fighter, well-known Portuguese politician, journalist and writer.
