On the weekend of June 18th and 19th, Alcoutim Castle has restricted access:
- On June 18th, free entry to the gardens from 9 am to 7 pm. The exhibitions of the Archeology Museum of the Municipal Museum are closed to the public;
- On June 19th, it is closed to the public.

Exhibition “Guarda-fiscal no Baixo Guadiana”

Exhibition based on the research of Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Fernandes, organized by the Municipality of Alcoutim/Municipal Museum in close collaboration with the Núcleo de Vila Real de St.º António da Liga dos Combatentes, which reconstructs the timeline of “the creation of a militarized force under a single command which would be tasked with defending and guarding Portugal’s land and maritime borders as well as carrying out tax collection wherever and whenever necessary, thereby reducing smuggling, increasing tax receipts, and making the public administration more efficient in these matters. From the time of its foundation onwards, the Fiscal Guard underwent several reforms to adapt to various government constraints and the changing social and economic conditions faced in its 108 years of existence. However, it always operated as a model national institution.”

On September 23rd and 24th, Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana will host the International Congress on Border Culture and Heritage, organized by the Pablo de Olavide University, in Seville, and with the support of the Municipality of Alcoutim, the Ayuntamiento de Sanlúcar de Guadiana and the Board of Andalusia.
You can consult information about the congress here, and the communications program will be released at the end of June.
From May 4th to 11th, the River Museum is closed to the public.

From April 20th to 29th, the Casa dos Condes, in Alcoutim, which houses the Municipal Library and the Temporary Exhibition Room of the Municipal Museum, is closed to the public.

During the Easter period, the opening to the public of the museums of the Alcoutim Municipal Museum was changed:
- River Museum, in Guerreiros do Rio, is closed to the public on April 15th and 17th;
- Archeology Museum, Castelo da Vila, in Alcoutim, is closed to the public on April 14th;
- Religious Art Museum, in Alcoutim, is closed to the public on April 15th, 16th and 17th;
- Dr. João Dias Museum, in Alcoutim, is closed to the public on April 15th and 17th and in the afternoon of April 16th;
- Blacksmith’s House, in Pereiro, is closed to the public on April 15th, 16th and 17th;
- Temporary Exhibition Room, Casa dos Condes, in Alcoutim, is closed to the public on April 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th;.
